Martha E. Tasinga, MD, MPH, MBA is the Medical Director at CAP Management System. Cap Management System is a Full Service Management company providing services to 16 physician organizations and 15 hospitals serving 378,000 managed care members. As a member of the strategic management team, Dr. Tasinga provides clinical leadership in the development of the strategic direction of the company. She is responsible for the development and implementation of the medical management policies and procedures of the company to ensure compliance with regulatory, and contractual requirements. She oversees and provides leadership to all the clinical departments. These departments are responsible for the development and implementations of programs to ensure appropriate utilization of services, high quality of care, and the financial viability of the provider organizations.
The four years prior to joining CAP Management System, Dr. Tasinga served as the Senior Director /Medical Director at L. A. Care Healthplan. L. A. Care Healthplan is a non-profit community accountable healthplan in Los Angeles County which serves approximately 800,000 Medi-Cal members. She was responsible for medical management, the development and implementation of programs to improve the knowledge of the provider network and ensure the provision of high quality care to the members.
She spent 12 years at CIGNA health care of California where she held several leadership positions including Chief of Staff of multispecialty centers, and Medical Director of different geographic areas and utilization management. In these leadership roles, Dr. Tasinga participated in the development, implementation and re-organization of different delivery systems in an effort to identify an efficient system to provide high quality care without a negative impact on patient satisfaction.
Dr. Tasinga earned her medical degree from the Yaounde University Center for Health Sciences in Cameroon, a Masters degree in Public Health from UCLA and a Masters degree in Business Administration from University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Tasinga completed a General Surgery internship and Family Medicine Residency at King/ Drew Medical center in Los Angeles. She is board certified in Family Medicine, a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and a member in the American college of Physician Executives. Dr. Tasinga is interested in the development of efficient and effective population based health programs for the elderly and adolescents. She enjoys gardening, needlework and spending time with her family which includes many relatives whom she fondly call my "African Village".
