Bonnie Brueshoff RN, PHN, MSN
Director for the Dakota County Public Health Department in West St. Paul and Apple Valley, Minnesota. Dakota County is the third most populous county in Minnesota with a population of 405,000. In her current role, Brueshoff manages and provides leadership for the Public Health Department. She has spent the majority of her 29 years in nursing in public health focusing on prevention and early intervention programs, with an emphasis in the maternal child health area. Past professional experiences include positions as Public Health Deputy Director and Supervisor for Dakota County and Apnea Home Monitoring Coordinator at Minneapolis Children’s Medical Center. Her expertise has been sought out at the regional and state levels where she has served on numerous public health committees and workgroups: Minnesota State Maternal and Child Health Advisory Task Force (1991-1999), State Community Services Advisory Committee for Assuring Essential Local Public Health Activities (2004-2005), and State Community Health Services Advisory Committee for the Public Health role in Correctional Health (2005-2006). During 2002-2006 she has worked with two federal grants addressing the preparation of the future public health nursing workforce. Her current leadership roles include the March of Dimes Professional Education Committee Greater Twin Cities Division, Board Member of the University of Minnesota Center for Early Education and Development, Governing Board Member of the Dakota County Collaborative and Chair of the Dakota Healthy Families Initiative. Awards include Outstanding Committee Chair (1998) and Outstanding Committee Member (2004) for the March of Dimes and University of Minnesota Irving B. Harris Center for Infant and Toddler Development Training Award (2002).
