Beth Ann Swan, PhD, CRNP, FAAN
Professor and Associate Dean, Graduate Programs at the Jefferson School of Nursing and Senior Fellow in the Jefferson School of Population Health at Thomas Jefferson University. The Jefferson School of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate nursing programs on two campuses located in Philadelphia and Danville, Pennsylvania.  In her role as Associate Dean, Dr. Swan provides oversight for all aspects of the graduate curriculum to insure congruence with the educational goals of the School and University.  In addition,   Dr. Swan is responsible for creating and maintaining an agenda to uphold curricular quality and integrity, policy development, and consistency with societal and professional trends; and for providing creative leadership that promotes growth and innovation within the graduate programs. She came to Thomas Jefferson University in 2005 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she held numerous leadership positions including Associate Director of the Office of International Programs and PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center for Nursing and Midwifery Leadership, as well as Associate Director of the Penn Nursing Network.  Dr. Swan is Past President of the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) and served as a member of the Steering Committee of the National Quality Forum for Standardizing Ambulatory Care Performance Measures.  Dr. Swan is a member of the Take Care Health National Medical Advisory Board.  She has published and presented nationally and internationally on topics related to evidence-based practice and ambulatory care nursing.  Dr. Swan recently co-authored a book, Evidence Based Nursing Care Guidelines: Medical-Surgical Interventions and the book received an AJN Book of the Year Award.  Awards include the Distinguished Nursing Alumni Award from Holy Family University (2007), Fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing (2005), and Outstanding Alumni Award for Leadership in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing (2002).
