Vivian Torres-Suarez, BSN, MSN
Senior Vice President, Community Based Programs at Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center in New York, NY. Elizabeth Seton is dedicated to the provision of medical and rehabilative services to children with complex medical needs in a long term care setting and in the community through its clinic, home care, early intervention and schools. In her role as SVP, Ms. Torres-Suarez oversees all clinical services throughout all of the community based programs and services in NYC and in Westchester. In addition, Ms. Torres-Suarez is responsible for development, implementation and evaluation of the organization's programs for improvement of quality and productivity of services, including the development of important aspects of care, as well as implementing service programs in accordance with the mission of Elizabeth Seton based upon short-term and long-term goals across the organization. Ms. Torres-Suarez serves as the Corporate Compliance Officer for the organization.
Until July, 2009 Ms. Torres-Suarez was the Sr. VP, Services at Lighthouse International. An organization dedicated to the prevention, rehabilitation and empowermet of people with vision loss. In April 2008, Ms. Torres- Suarez presented at the Diabetes Translation Conference, speaking about the Electronic Vision Rehabilitation Record (EVRR), a web enabled system designed to enhance quality of service for people with vision loss and create an international database for research.
Ms. Torres-Suarez was honored with the 2007 Excellence in Health Care Award from the Home Care Association of New York State, Ms. Torres-Suarez's extensive background in community healthcare programs includes serving as Chief Operating Officer for Selfhelp Community Services which provides home and community services to a large number of senior citizens. Her responsibilities included administration of all home care programs and community based services programs which serve 4,500 patients with a staff of more than 2,000. Her expertise in strategic planning, financial management, budget development, and clinical delivery systems helped achieve dramatic program growth and significant revenue enhancement.
Ms. Torres-Suarez was also instrumental in the development and implementation of the first pediatric long term home health care program in New York State.
In her role as a strong advocate for community based health care, Ms. Torres-Suarez serves as a board member of the Home Care Association of New York State. She is also a member of the Policy and Nominating Committee of the Home Care Association and is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses. Ms. Torres-Suarez has been recognized with a number of honors, including an award for outstanding service to the people of Queens and recognition from the Queensboro Council for Social Welfare.
Ms. Suarez earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wagner College and Masters in Business Administration from Dowling College.
