Clinic Leadership Institute

Overview

California’s community clinics, a critical component of the state’s safety net, serve 3 million residents who lack healthcare coverage. These clinics will endure additional strain in the future, as the state’s population increases and as many clinic leaders reach retirement age.

To create a new generation of leaders that can manage and strengthen community clinics in the future, CLI offers an innovative, part-time training and professional development program for emerging leaders in California’s clinics. Each year, approximately 25 participants are selected for this 18-month program, which draws on the social justice mission and unique organizational structure of community clinics.

CLI is designed for emerging leaders in California’s community clinics who demonstrate a long-term commitment and passion to preserving and enhancing the healthcare safety net. It is open to eligible staff of clinics licensed by the state of California as a Community Clinic, Free Clinic, or designated Tribal Clinic; and it is open to eligible staff of regional area consortia (RAC).
