Doctors, nurses, dentists,
pharmacists, and other clinically trained health care leaders are invited
to apply.
The program seeks to recruit a diverse class
of fellows from a variety of settings.
Health care leaders are recruited to participate in
the program from a variety of settings such as: community clinics, group
practices, hospitals, academic medical centers, health plans, and public
health. Professionals in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, mental
health, and pharmacy who live and work in California are encouraged to
apply. Candidates are selected based on the following criteria and the
goal of creating a diverse cohort.
- Experience (at least 5 years) in management or
leadership positions.
- Recognition and endorsement of the candidate as
a future leader by his or her organization.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in professional and/or
civic settings.
- Openness to change and understanding of the nature
of the challenges confronting health care.
- Commitment to a rigorous program of study.
Over the two-year fellowship, participants agree to
the following:
- Personally and actively participate in all program
activities, including attending six 5-day seminars.
- Commit to working an average of 2-3 hours weekly
on further study and learning experiences, such reading articles, using
web-based tools, and participating in conference calls and/or meetings
with other fellows.
- Develop and implement a leadership development
plan, management improvement project, and quality improvement project.
- Furnish airfare, ground transportation and incidentals
costs related to attending seminars and other fellowship events (the
program office will provide lodging and most meals)
- Permit the program to include my name, organizational
information (name, title, address, etc.), biographical sketch and photo
in informational and promotional materials pertaining to the fellowship.
Cost of the Program
The CHCF Health Care Leadership Program covers the
tuition for the fellowship, including the cost of seminars and other learning
experiences, educational materials, electronic and print resources, and
lodging and most meals related to attending the seminars.
